Temple Emanuel offers a variety of informal educational programming that is an integral part of the educational process at the Temple. The Religious School and the Youth Department are fully integrated - working hand in hand to offer a well rounded Jewish education for the youth of the congregation.
The Youth Department offers a very thorough and exciting program of informal educational experiences and dynamic programming. For more information about Youth Groups at Temple Emanuel, please contact Heather Feinberg, Youth Director, at 303-388-4013.
Friedman Club is the Senior Youth Group of Temple Emanuel for teenagers in 9-12th grades. We are a part of the Missouri Valley region of NFTY. As the senior youth group, the members of Freidman Club have the opportunity to take all their experiences in religious education, at Shwayder Camp and from the younger youth groups and develop a personal, individual Jewish practice. Throughout the years in Friedman Club we explore Jewish worship, culture and history as well as explore modern political views of Judaism and Israel. Along with other relevant topics, our innovative and interactive programming is social, educational and focused on tikkun olam.
Friedman Club is led by an elected board of it’s peers who go through leadership training with a focus on community building and individual growth. These teens plan the local programs as well as host regional ones every other year. There are 5 regional Chavurot (retreats) a year to attend where the teens create special friendships with Jewish youth from around the region and strengthen the bonds they have created with their local friends. The members of Friedman Club enhance their teenage years by creating a community of their own. A place where they feel safe exploring, questioning, and being themselves in a supportive and accepting Jewish environment.
Emanukids (grades 3-5) is a special way for kids to continue their informal Jewish education with fun and meaningful programs. Throughout the year there will be opportunities for family programs as well as special activities just for the kids. They will have the opportunity to connect with their Jewish friends in exciting environments both inside and outside of temple. The programs are designed to help our children integrate all the values and lessons they learn in religious school into their daily lives and shape their Jewish selves.
Meet at Temple to board the bus to take us to some really fun stops around town. Saturday, March 20, 5:30 - 8 p.m.
Frankel Club is Temple Emanuel’s Junior Youth Group for 6, 7, and 8th grades. Frankel Club programs combine aspects of social, educational and social action activities that are exciting, inspiring, and meaningful.
Throughout these important developmental years when many changes occur for preteens and teens, Frankel Club is here to provide a special community: a place to belong, to feel comfortable, to be themselves.
Frankel Club participants will have the opportunity to connect with their peers as well as high school role models and capable adult advisors. Together we will support each other in exploring Judaism, creating new friendships and learning about ourselves.
In addition to local events, 7th and 8th graders are encouraged to attend a regional North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) event each year at Junior Youth Group Chavurah. Overall, the youth that participate in Frankel Club will enrich their lives through experiential education based on team building, leadership development, and Judaic knowledge. We will travel, laugh, grow and play together while fostering life-long friendships.
Jewniors (Kindergarten - 2nd Grade) is an exciting way for young children and their families to build connections to the temple community. Throughout the year, there will be opportunities for family programs as well as special activities just for the kids. The programs are designed for families or kids to come together to celebrate being Jewish, learn something new, and make memories together. The goal of this program is to build a bridge to temple that is based on safety, comfort, learning, and pure joy!
