16th Annual Mitzvah Day
Tikun Olam: A Day to Do!

Join in our largest single-day community service event.
Give your time, energy and talent as a participant in a variety of mitzvot to assist the organizations and individuals in our community.

If you have a few hours to give, there is a meaningful project for you!
Sign up as an individual, family or with a group of friends.

Outdoors: Nature/Gardening/Repairing  
Gardening, site maintenance, trail work
Prepare ground and transplant vegetables to produce food for JFS Weinberg Food Pantry
Plant pumpkins and general spring cleaning.
Spring clean-up of grounds including planting and getting flower beds ready for planting.
(weather dependent) Build a trail in memory of former staff member Jenna Gruben.
Indoors: Food / Clothing  
Preparing, cooking, bagging and labeling dog biscuits for sale.
Sorting through clothing and household items. Some light cleaning of items may be requested.
Sort, tag, and restock store for low-income children.
Work as an assembly line filling boxes with food for recipients.
Bag rice and ingredients to prepare Spanish Rice packets.
Sort donated food and pack emergency food kits for JFS pantry clients.
Prepare food for an evening shelter for homeless women.
Outdoors: Grounds  
Paint and treat fence, pull weeds, pick up trash and organize shed.
Painting outdoor furniture and various other tasks followed by bagels and mingling with the residents.
Distribute flyers in neighborhoods served by LunchBox Express.
Indoors: Helping  
Indoor painting and possible outdoor maintenance
Minor woodwork and seat repairs in sanctuary.
Play bingo and other games with Seniors.
Hospital tour, assemble warm welcome bags for new babies and stuff activity bags for kids in the emergency department.
Sort and pack donated hygiene items.
Cut fleece and knot ends to create polar fleece blankets for kids in crisis.
Create craft bags for children aat an Absorption Center for Ethiopian immigrants to Israel.
Staff the Used Book Sale
Remove and replace books from shelves, dust and replace stickers and cards on books.

26. Jr. Mitzvah Day

Young children (ages 3-10), along with their parents, stay at Temple for Tzedakah projects for the whole family. Have fun with cooking, painting, creating birthday boxes and a while lot more! These projects benefit a wide variety of agencies. (choose activity #26)
