Consecration is traditionally celebrated in marking the very beginning of a child’s formal Jewish education. At Temple Emanuel we like to give all our new families the opportunity to celebrate the beginning of their journey with us here. A special Consecration Shabbat Service will take place on Friday, November 1st with a group picture taking place on the bimah in the main sanctuary at 5:30 p.m. If this is your child(ren)’s first year in Temple Emanuel’s Religious School (regardless of age), we hope that you will participate!
IMPORTANT: We ask that parents of new students decorate a mini Torah cover for their child(ren) that will be presented to them during the service. We will have all the necessary materials available in the Library. Feel free to drop in any time during the week between Sunday, October 13 and Wednesday, October 30 – including during Religious School hours on October 13th and 27th. Once you have completed it, just leave it in the Library to dry.
Immediately following the Consecration Shabbat service, we invite you to attend a celebratory Shabbat dinner. Please RSVP and pay for dinner by clicking here. No RSVP is necessary for the Consecration Shabbat service.
