Rosh HaShanah Retreat!
Join us for a meaningful and rejuvenating Rosh HaShanah Retreat at the beautiful Church Ranch Events Center in Westminster. This new venue (we will return to Shwayder next year) offers the perfect setting to welcome the new year. Our service will once again be led by the inspiring Rabbi Joshua Ginsberg-Margo, along with Jack Leopold, Shwayder Camp's Assistant Director. You can expect a creative, engaging, and musical experience that will uplift your spirit and bring new meaning to the High Holidays. Bring the whole family and reconnect with tradition, reflect on the past year, and step into the new year with joy and renewal.
There are a few important changes to note for this year:
- We have a capacity of 225 guests on each of the two days of Rosh HaShanah: Day 1 on Thursday, October 3rd and Day 2 on Friday, October 4th. Guests may only register for one day.
- Pre-registration is required and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Temple MEMBERS will receive priority registration, which will open on Monday, August 26th at 9:00 AM (links below). Registration for NON-MEMBERS will open two weeks later, on Monday, September 9th at 9:00 AM and will be on a space-available basis.
- The Church Ranch Events Center is approximately a 25-minute drive from Temple Emanuel. Parking onsite is plentiful. Driving directions will be emailed a few days before the event.
- Guests are welcome to arrive between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM, and a very light breakfast (donuts or pastries) will be available. There will be no drink service, but you are welcome to bring your own coffee or other beverages (no alcohol allowed).
- Our Rosh HaShanah service will begin promptly at 10:00 AM. The service should conclude around 12:00-12:15 PM. There will be a brief tashlich ceremony (the symbolic casting-off of sins) following the service.
- We will not be providing lunch this year, but guests are invited to bring their own lunch (we recommend bringing a cooler) plus plates, napkins, utensils, beverages, etc. Tables, chairs, and water will be provided, either indoors or outdoors depending on the weather. There are no facilities for warming food.
- You are welcome after lunch to stay, schmooze, and enjoy the holiday with family and friends. Our facility rental officially ends at 2:00 PM each day.
- Because there is no lunch, the cost this year is significantly reduced, and is simply to cover the facility rental and staffing expense. Temple members will be $40.00 for adults (age 13 and up) and $25.00 for children (12 and under); non-members will be $50.00 for adults (13 and up) and $35.00 for children (12 and under).
We look forward to a wonderful, spiritual, and fulfilling Rosh HaShanah Retreat together!

Jack Leopold
Hello Temple Emanuel! I’m honored to be a part of helping build and support this wonderful community. I am currently a Shwayder Unit Head and I am excited to be the Shwayder Camp Assistant Director. I am a song leader, meditation instructor, and community organizer with roots in Maine and Colorado. After graduating from the University of Maine in 2021, I worked as the program coordinator of an interfaith community center, song lead for various communities across the country, and spent a semester studying Hebrew and Jewish texts in Jerusalem. I look forward to bringing my passions for Judaism, music, meditation, outdoor education, and community organizing, to this lovely place.
