In the Mishnah, tractate Avot, we find that when a person reaches the age of 50 years, s/he reaches an age of Eytzah – of council. This program is designed for those in our community who have already celebrated their 50th birthday (or who are about to reach this important milestone) as well as those who are older. We will meet for 6 consecutive weeks during which we will study the book of Ecclesiastes, review ancient and modern ethical wills and engage in personal exploration of what it means to understand and accept the role of elder in the community. At the conclusion of the program, each member of the group will write their own “Testament of Council”/ ethical will which will be presented to the Congregation at Sukkot services in October.
