Upcoming Shabbat Worship Opportunities

Shabbat at Temple Emanuel

Friday Evening

Traditional Worship: Services are held on Friday evenings, typically at 6:00 p.m. Please see upcoming times above or check the calendar for special times, especially during the summer. Our congregation uses the Mishkan T’filah prayer book and our services follow a mainstream Reform model.

Shabbat B'Yachad: Held the first Friday of each month from October through May at 6:00 p.m. This one-hour service is geared toward families with elementary age children. Each month we celebrate the birthdays of the children that had a birthday the month prior.

Shabbat Unplugged: Join us monthly throughout the year for a unique Shabbat experience. Inspired by the beautiful melodies provided by Steve Brodsky and the Shabbat Unplugged band, a spiritual experience is achieved through singing, dancing and learning.

Young Family Shabbat Experience: Our Friday night Young Family Shabbat Experience is designed to provide families with children (ages 1-6) with a meaningful Shabbat experience that includes Shabbat dinner (with rituals), Shabbat worship, and programming to build community. Join us!

Saturday Morning

Torah Study: Every Shabbat morning we join together at 9:00 a.m. for Torah Study. We study the weekly Torah portion, slowly working our way through the Torah, with all its commentaries, midrashim, and relevant scholarship. Regardless of previous knowledge, all are welcome to become part of the camaraderie of students who weekly delve into the mysteries of our most sacred and treasured text. Come and learn about the origins of our people, its values and traditions, and make new friends.

Community Shabbat Worship: An informal, participatory Shabbat worship service including a Torah reading at 10:30 a.m. Followed by a light Shabbat Kiddush.

Shabbat Meditation: Start your Shabbat morning at Temple and access your spirituality through Jewish meditation. Temple members Jim Sharon and Ruth Sharon, among others, lead this ongoing opportunity the first Saturday of the month from 9:45–10:30 a.m. in the Seminar Room.

Young Family Shabbat Experience: Our Shabbat morning Young Family Shabbat Experience begins with a light breakfast (bagels, cream cheese, fruit, and danish) followed by a lively Shabbat Worship/Movement Experience! We end the morning with a project and family time in the library. This is a perfect way to celebrate Shabbat morning with your family.
