Responsa literature, in which rabbis use earlier rabbinic sources such as the Talmud and law codes to answer questions about halacha/Jewish tradition, helps us figure what is the Jewish thing to do in a variety of contexts. The Reform movement has been writing responsa since the 19th century, examining questions (she'elot) and writing answers (t'shuvot), grounding our liberal Jewish movement squarely in our sources and tradition. In this class, we will look at several specific t'shuvot, and also examine the role of Jewish law in our own lives.
This class is in-person only. Bring your own lunch!
The book is $25 and the class is $72. Scholarships are available, for more information email Megan Shipley, Clergy Assistant.
