We are thrilled to welcome Charlie Kramer to Temple Emanuel as the first Artist-in-Residence in our Summer Music Series on Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25.

A touring songleader, songwriter, spiritual leader, and life coach, Charlie was diagnosed with a progressive visual disability, Retinitis Pigmentosa, at the age of five, and was declared legally blind at the age of fifteen. Charlie’s journey from discouragement, frustration, and hopelessness to awareness, acceptance, and the embracing of his disability is inspiring and empowering. Charlie travels the world sharing his story through music, meditation, and immersive experiences, helping others to face their challenges and uncover the many blessings within their lives.

On Friday evening at 6:00 pm, Charlie will share his powerful story and his musical gifts with us as he co-leads Shabbat worship along with Rabbi Joe Black and Cantorial Soloist Steve Brodsky. Following the service at 7:30 pm, Charlie will perform a concert of his original music and share more of his inspiring journey. On Saturday morning at 11:00 am, Charlie will co-lead our Community Service with Cantor Elizabeth Sacks and Steve Brodsky, and will share more of his music grounded in Jewish texts that speak of blindness. Please join us as we welcome Charlie Kramer for this special weekend of learning, growth, and discovery.
