Tuesday, September 23rd, 10:00 a.m.

Nelly Ben Tal, Community Sh'licha
As we enter Rosh Hashana,  the season of renewal and hope , we look beyond the headlines to discover a different Israel: one of grassroots initiatives, social organizations, and NGOs quietly shaping a better future. These hidden changemakers, often absent from the news, embody the spirit of resilience, coexistence, and innovation. Two years after the painful day of Simchat Torah, their stories remind us that renewal is not only possible but already happening and that the new year can be a time to amplify light over darkness.

Adult Learning Session - What's the Point of Religion, Anyway? with Dr. Elias Sacks

Thursday, October 2nd, 11:00 a.m.

Why should I keep showing up at High Holiday services, year after year after year?  Why should I spend time performing Jewish rituals, studying Jewish texts, and participating in Jewish communities when there are so many other activities I could be pursuing, from hikes in the mountains to scientific study to political activism?  Indeed, given all of the strife and violence that’s often associated with organized religion, why should I have anything to do with any religious tradition, Jewish or otherwise?  We will explore diverse answers to these questions, encountering Jewish thinkers who have wrestled with the question: what’s the point of religion, anyway?
