High Holy Days Update From Temple Emanuel's Re-Opening Task Force

Dear Friends,

Our Re-Opening Task Force met last week to evaluate best practices at Temple in light of the news of the more contagious COVID-19 delta variant and the increased concern about breakthrough infections occurring in a small percentage of vaccinated individuals. Our primary focus was our plan for the High Holy Days and how we will proceed with in-person worship.

As of this writing, we will continue with our current plan to hold in-person worship. However, in keeping with our ongoing practice of using Jewish values to guide our decision-making, we will proceed with two notable changes:

We ask that everyone who attends High Holy Day worship, and is eligible, be vaccinated. At this time, we are not asking for proof. However, when you register for services, you will be asked to affirm that you are (or will be) fully vaccinated.

We ask that everyone in attendance at High Holy Day worship, regardless of vaccination status, be masked at all times.

The COVID-19 situation changes daily. We are keeping up to date with the most current information and reserve the right to change our policies as the situation evolves. At Temple Emanuel, we strive to find the holiness and uniqueness in every situation and respond as best as we can. We have a special obligation to focus on the safety of all our members and guests.

We thank you for your understanding and support. Our goal is to ensure both the safety and integrity of all of our worship experiences at Temple Emanuel.

Sincerely,

Rabbi Joseph Black
Steve Stark, Executive Director
Cantor Elizabeth Sacks
Danny Foster, President
Gary Wagner, Chair of the Re-opening Task Force
