Dear Temple Emanuel Community,

We have watched and witnessed the events playing out in Israel with great sadness. We join with our people all over the world as we mourn the hostages who were tragically killed this weekend.

For 150 years, our Emanuel community has gathered in times of tragedy. For 150 years, we have held each other’s pain, inspired each other to take action, and found light in the darkness. Together.

Join us this Friday, September 6 at 6:00 p.m. for a Shabbat of Solidarity as we mark the final weekend of our 150th Anniversary and transition into our 150th Anniversary Gala on Saturday evening. We will hold the heaviness of this week even as we lift up the legacy of our community.

Every year, as an Emanuel community, we honor the holy transition from Israel Remembrance Day to Israel Independence Day; two days that come one right after the other and remind us how walk through the darkness and the light - together.

And so, on this Shabbat, we will honor the history and legacy of our congregation by living out the essential purpose of our community.

Let us come together to cry. Let us come together to remember. Let us come together to inspire each other to find the light at this moment.
