Dear Friends,

As we continue to process the terrible attack at Sunday’s Run for Their Lives walk in Boulder, we want to share some updates, information, and to check in with our own community. Most importantly, we are holding the victims and their loved ones in our hearts. We are praying for their recovery and we stand together with our entire Jewish community during this time of heightened fear and insecurity.

Temple Updates and Resources

As always, the safety and security of our community remains our highest priority, and we continue to work closely with our security team, with Secure Community Network (SCN), with local law enforcement, and with all of our community partners.

It is in that spirit that we share with you our decision to continue holding our joyful summer-long Friday Night Shabbat Worship services outside in our tent. In intensive collaboration with our own security team and with SCN, we have been given the green light to continue celebrating Shabbat outside, in a way that is deeply meaningful to our community. With the confidence of our security team, we hope that we can gather this Friday night with strength and resilience. Together, we can navigate the fine line between our community’s sense of vulnerability and our need to remain steadfast in the face of hatred.

In the meantime, we are here for each of you as you navigate this challenging time. The clergy will be holding a Zoom conversation this Thursday night at 7:00 PM for those who are looking for space to process, share, or to gather with the clergy in our own community for support. Register to attend and the Zoom link will be sent on Thursday morning to those who are registered.

Boulder Jewish Festival
Sunday, June 8th from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
The Boulder Jewish Festival is scheduled for this coming Sunday and we are taking steps to reimagine the event in a way that helps our community heal and feels grounded in the reality of yesterday’s attack. Based on the fact that Run For Their Lives was targeted, we want to center this event in furtherance of their cause, which is to bring awareness to the Israeli hostages still held in Gaza, while making space to recognize the victims in our community. We are still finalizing details and will update you as plans are finalized. In moments like these, our strength is in our unity. Thank you for standing together. We will continue to share updates and support one another. Learn More About the Boulder Jewish Festival

Financial Support
JEWISHColorado has established the JEWISHcolorado Boulder Security Fund to support the victims. Contribute to the Fund.

More Information

In each of these spaces, and at Temple Emanuel, you will likely see an increased security presence. These measures are precautionary, they do not indicate any known threat to the community.

For those looking to read some of the articles that the clergy have been reading, check out the list below. We will continue to share resources as they emerge.
