Temple Emanuel Emergency Food and Essentials Drive

In partnership with Jewish Family Service of Colorado (JFS), Temple Emanuel is collecting non-perishable food and personal care items to support individuals and families in our community who are struggling with food insecurity. In recent years, hunger has increased sharply across America and now the need is even more urgent for those impacted by the government shutdown and pause in SNAP benefits.

You can bring donations to the collection bins in the Temple lobbies whenever the building is open. Forest Street doors are open during regular hours and some events; Grape Street doors open for events only.

The most-needed items are:

  • Canned fruit packed in juice, not syrup
  • Canned protein, such as tuna, chicken, salmon, etc.
  • Other protein, such as canned beans and peanut butter
  • Cereal: whole grain/lower sugar cereals
  • Canned soup: healthy choices, lower sodium
  • Rice: individual 1-2 pound bags
  • Tomato/pasta sauce
  • Carbohydrates: whole grain pasta, macaroni and cheese, etc.
  • Canned vegetables
  • Diapers and wipes, especially sizes 4, 5, and 6
  • Toilet paper
  • Shampoo, body wash, soap (full or travel size)

In addition to donating food and hygiene items at Temple, you can drop off items at JFS directly, order items for delivery directly to JFS from their Amazon Wish List, make a donation to JFS, or volunteer, especially in JFS' Mobile Food and Hygiene Pantry, which brings needed items to people for whom transportation is a barrier. Learn more about making donations to JFS.

Temple Emanuel also has ongoing volunteer opportunities related to food insecurity and hygiene poverty. Email Jenny Williams at williams@emanueldenver.org with any questions or to learn more about volunteering with Temple Emanuel.
