This class explores the BIG stories of triumph, magic, love, loss, and mythical creatures! Are dragons and unicorns Jewish? Do chimeras exist in the Torah? Come find out!
Create and Celebrate the Holidays
Come create beautiful artwork while celebrating and learning about the Jewish holidays!
Shomrei Adamah - “Guardians of the Earth”
Be an Earth Guardian! Can we go green? Using science, help the Temple by creating sustainable ecosystems for our garden. Reimagine and redesign the Courtyard! Help the entire building compost and recycle!
5th Grade
Holiday Cooking
Love food? Want to learn Ashkenazi and Sephardic recipes? Come cook delicious treats for the holidays! Challah, Sephardic rice, latkes, sufganiyot, and more!
Garden and Farming
Help plant in the Temple Emanuel garden and the ELC's living sukkah. Take care of our apple trees. Make sure creatures don't eat all the harvest. Do all of this while learning about Jewish farming and food laws.
Journalism/Scrapbooking the Torah
How would you have reported the story of Moses? How do we report the stories of today? Learn Torah stories and think about their modern-day counterpoints. Be a “Journalist of the Torah” in this creative class!
Fast and Furious: Jewish Warriors
Become a Jewish warrior! In this class we will train for a local 5K that we will "run" together! (Yes you can walk too!) Learn about the great warriors, both physically and mentally, of ancient times and today!
6th Grade
Storytelling: Midrash & Torah
Create a comic book of your own story. Or create a quest for your friends to deepen their Jewish identity. In this class, you'll learn about Jewish authors, illustrators, comics, and game developers. You’ll learn all the greatest stories from the Talmud and Midrash!
Holocaust Survey
Learn about the Holocaust, through books, art, music, stories, and history. This course will give an overview of what the world was like for Jews during that time-period and how Temple Emanuel has its own personal connection!
MythBusters: Torah
Could the Torah be Scientifically accurate? Could the 10 plagues have really happened? Investigate the Torah through the lens of science.
Art and Judaism
Learn about art in Judaism! Are we allowed to make the image of God? In this class, you will design and create a GIANT canvas to hang in the hallways of our Temple.
7th Grade
Debate: Talmud/Midrash
In this class, learn the formal rules of debate! Get ready to share and defend your opinion on the arguments Jews have been having for centuries. What do *you* actually think? Can you persuade someone to change their mind? Can they persuade you? Come find out!
Ritual Objects
There is Judaica all around us! Especially at Temple Emanuel. Come learn all the history of these objects and then make them for yourself and your own practice!
Survivor: Torah Edition
What would you do at the foot of Mount Sinai? Do you know how to pitch a tent? Think you can set up a new civilization? Know how to store your food for safe traveling and hot summers? Could you find your way without your phone to unearth treasures? Think you can map the stars? Come learn the skills of Ancient Jewry! Will you survive?
Holocaust Survey
